Basic Membership for 2024 is €560, but retired members can join for as little as €145. There are preferential rates for recent graduates of €280 and final year veterinary students pay only €45 per year. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th year students are free. There is a preferential maternity leave membership rate of €280 - available on application to the Chief Executive for only one Membership Year during each separate Maternity Leave Period.
For those Members undertaking work for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM), such as TVI work or ERAD Department paid testing, there is an additional 1% levy deducted automatically by DAFM, to reflect the extra work undertaken by Veterinary Ireland on behalf of such members. All amounts paid are added to the Veterinary Ireland Membership subscription up to a total cap of €890 for 2024. For example, having paid basic membership of €560 (12 month membership), a member will pay an additional €330 from TVI/ERAD work and any payments received over this amount will be reimbursed in the following year.
